Link Building Ideas for the Frustrated Internet Marketer

Category : Link Building Methods

frustrated-internet-marketerI have built a lot of websites over the years, and I really like most every aspect of creating and marketing websites with the exception of link building.  Link building takes up a lot of time, and it’s often a very frustrating process.  Then you never know if your links will be counted in Google, or if the web directory will even approve your link.

As an internet marketer, I like instant results, and I like to rank for keywords that I need to drive traffic.  There is nothing worse that putting all of your efforts into building links around your keywords, only to have to wait months, and then not rank at all for them. You begin to feel like it’s all a waste of time.

So you try blackhat methods only to find your site banned and penalized for taking the easy way out.  I cannot tell you how many times I have tried to take the easy way out to avoid the monotony of building links.

I have tried creating rss widgets, and submitting them to software sites.  It worked for a few weeks, and my backlinks went up by 1000′s.  One month later, I was back to square one, when Google slapped me down.

I have used those automated PHP scripts to gather links, only to have webmasters submit only to my main site, not the ones on the same web server.  I stack my hosting, so only one link counts.  One webmaster educated me quickly when I offered him links on my other websites.

I have written articles, and built mini sites until I am blue in the face, and it never seems to be enough.  Well, I found some very valuable lessons in all of this, and I want to share them with you.

Link Building Tip Golden Rule – Stick with it, and be consistent.

I have recently picked up some good link building tips as a member of Wealthy Affiliate, and from SEOBook.com.

Link Building Tip #1 - Write articles.  Write lots of articles, or hire a freelancer to do it for you.  I use a program from Wealthy Affiliate called Rapid Writer, and I love it.  I write several articles, and spin them several different ways.  I duplicate them, re-title them, and use my keywords throughout the body of each article.  Use PLR articles, but make them your own.  You don’t want to submit articles that are not original, and have been indexed 100′s of times by others.  It’s a waste of time and your energy.  Submit them to places like Ezinearticles, Article Dashboard, and GoArticles.

Link Building Tip #2 – Make some friends.  Social bookmark at every opportunity.  I use Onlywire.com.  It automatically submits to about 25 or so different websites like Twitter, Delicious, and Jumptags. There are other really good ones like Stumbleupon, Digg, Folkd, Mixx and Propeller.  Sign up for each one individually, and go for it.

Link Building Tip #3 – If you are promoting a blog, excellent!  Blog and ping often, as often as you can, and link out to other blogs.  Use trackbacks, as they will create a backlink for you.

The key to link building is to do it.  When you have this great website, and you want to drive traffic, you simply have to build links.  So set up a regular schedule, and stick to it.  Link building pays off, and though you may not get instant results, it does pay off with big commission checks sooner or later.
