Build A Niche Blog With Just a Few Dollars
With the ease of WordPress and other blogging platforms, you can easily build a niche blog for next to nothing.
To create a niche blog, you will have to decide on a theme, and go from there. For niche blogs, I particularly like to use Amazon and eBay for content.
I have been using Hostgator for hosting, and I buy all of my domains from GoDaddy. You will want to choose a domain name that is closely related to your niche. For example if you are setting up a “yoga build a niche blog” you will choose something like allthingsyoga.com, or yogaessentials.com. Just something with “Yoga” in the title of your domain.
After you choose your domain name at GoDaddy.com, (you can buy a .com for about $10, or a .info for about $2), you will go to Hostgator.com, and set up a hosting account. I like the Baby Plan, as its only $7.95 a month for unlimited domains, and unlimited space. Set up WordPress on your hosting account. The support team at Hostgator can show you how to do this.
Choose a theme to go with your niche. There are lots of free WordPress themes out there, just Google “free WordPress themes“. I like the themes where I can include extra ad banners related to my niche. You want themes where you can pop in Adsense or Chitika. This will help to boost your revenue.
Next, sign up for Amazon Associates and eBay’s Partner Network. Once you are approved for these two affiliate programs, you can create product links at Amazon, and at eBay you will want to get the RSS feeds.
For our example Yoga Niche Site, you will be looking for products related to yoga. Open up your notepad and start to note broad keywords like “yoga mats“, or “thick yoga mats“, and make your way down to more narrow long tail keywords like “bikram yoga mats” and “prana yoga mats“. When you have exhausted the long tail keywords, be sure to add the “brand name yoga mats“. Remember, buyers use the exact names, brands, and model numbers. To harvest hundreds of money making keywords fast, I use the Google Keyword tool, and of course, the keyword tool inside of Wealthy Affiliate.
To create the RSS feeds in eBay, type in your product name, and narrow down the category so that the feed will pull from relevant products. It is also wise to create a campaign name for each of your websites because you will want to see where all of your traffic is coming from.
Take your RSS feeds and change them to Javascript. Google, “RSS to Javascript“, pop in your RSS feed, and take the code and copy it into your post in WordPress. Create a title using your keywords, and try to write a little information about the product before you copy in your Javascript code. Publish your post, and move on to the next product.
You can create 10, 50, or even 100 or more of these niche blogs easily without having to pay someone for software. Remember that eBay will pay you Quality Click Pricing, Amazon pays a percentage of each sale, and Adsense and Chitika will pay you per click. This all adds up.
Once you start building your niche blogs, get out there and start creating backlinks so that you will start to get traffic. I also install Google Analytics to track my visitors, and see what keywords are driving traffic.
