How To Use Your RSS Feed As An Email List

email_listsWhen it comes to maintaining an email list, I am not the most enthusiastic marketer.  I can write one article after another, dabble in PPC, and create massive blogs that get crazy traffic, but you will not find me jumping up and down about creating a list.

It’s just downright scary to me.  Anyway, I have found a few easy shortcuts around really creating and maintaining a list, and I wanted to share them with you.

There is a free service from Google called Feedburner where you can add your blog’s RSS feeds.  What you do is sign up for an account, and I generally go in and add my blog’s feed.

Under the second tab, Optimize check:

  • Browserfriendly
  • Smartfeed
  • Feedflare

Under the third tab, Publicize check:

  • Emailsubscriptions
  • Pingshot

Copy the code under Emailsubscriptions, and copy it into the text box under the widgets in your Wordpress blog, and move the form up above the fold so that your visitors can see it and sign up.

It’s just a really good idea to keep in touch with your readers, and keep them updated on your blog even when they don’t return on a regular basis.  You can add the feeds from lots of blogs, and this is a perfect method for keeping your readers updated if you maintain a lot of blogs.

This no maintenance form of email list making is perfect for me, and I hope that you get some use of out it too.  You can’t beat it really.  It’s free, and simple to use.
