I had some rather interesting experiences with Google lately, and this may be a bit of a rant but it is also very much a warning about creating blogs on Google properties.
I created a weight loss blog on Blogger in March of this year. I really wanted to talk about my experiences with weight loss, and share some of my experiences. I also wanted to add some links to a program that I was using that produced some pretty good results for me.
I lost my freelancing job in June, and I totally panicked about what I would do for an income. I started feverishly building backlinks to the Blogger blog, and you will never guess what happened… 2900 visitors in June, and then all of the keywords that I was ranking for suddenly vanished for a month. My URL was still in Google’s index, but no rankings for any of the keywords that I was on the first page for previously.
I thought that this was the famed Google Dance, so I kept building, only more slow and cautiously, and again in July another 30 days no keywords or rankings.
Finally a few days ago, Google released my blog back into the index, and I was back on the front page for many of my keywords. Feeling happy and confident that I would start to make some money, I started writing many articles for EzineArticles with links back to the blog.
Wanna guess what happened tonight as I was adding some blog posts to my Blogger blog???
The Google Spambot came along and zapped my blog sending me into a real tailspin. I also got a nasty email from them stating that they have reviewed my blog for SPAM, yes…all caps…
I sent in a request to Google that they review and reinstate it, and I am pretty sure that it will happen for me since I did write long posts about my actual experiences.
So, my warning to you is to not link to your products in every post, and remove some of the advertising if your Blogger blog has a lot of them. Keyword optimization is another factor that you will want to look at. Don’t over optimize or it may trigger the spam filters.
Take your time with link building especially if the blog is new. My advice is to write at least a few weeks worth of content before you try monetizing a Blogger blog, because as we all know….Google is watching…

When I think of my first successes as an affiliate marketer, I think of the free
I know that this might sound really silly to most bloggers, but I am in the middle of a blogging crisis. I have several niche blogs, and they are totally getting traffic with no sales. Many of them I have redesigned over and over again, which in the eyes of the search engines can be a big no-no.![Reblog this post [with Zemanta]](http://img.zemanta.com/reblog_e.png?x-id=dc4bf2cb-93f5-46d4-82a8-b77a409132df)
