Affiliate Marketing Tips

To assure your affiliate marketing is effective, check your results regularly.

Pay attention to when and why you saw better or worse results for your link. If a link is getting good click-through rate, but not resulting in sales, you may want to do more to promote the product. If a link isn’t getting clicked, try changing the placement of the link.

Earn more on your website or blog by balancing out pay-per-click advertising with affiliate links. Affiliate links should take more of your high-profile advertising space because they earn you more money per click.

Affiliate marketing programs also give you more control over the content of the advertising on your site, which is important in building up your reputation with readers.  Building a good reputation is the best way to make sales, and is one of my favorite affiliate marketing tips.

It’s great to start out using free resources online to advertise your affiliate product; however, after you start to make some money, you should invest a bit in paid advertising to increase your business. You may purchase a domain name, buy business cards, have some fliers printed, and/or get a magnetic sign for the side of your car. All of these investments will broaden your target audience.

The prudent website owner will take an affiliate’s reputation into consideration, when he or she decides whether or not to work with the affiliate. Regardless of the potential profits or the sales potential of the affiliate’s products, an affiliate that is tough for customers to deal with, will reflect poorly on the webmaster.

Successful affiliate marketers work on a 4:1 formula for the best results. This simply means that 80% of their time online is spent marketing products and building up a strong base, while the other 20% is for goofing off or for checking out tutorial videos on how to market. The lion’s share of your time should be devoted solely to working.

If one affiliate program is not going well for you, then maybe you should try finding another affiliate program that fits your needs better. Not all affiliate programs work the right way. You should check out your favorite vendors to see if they have an affiliate program that you can try out.

Always start with something you know if you’re new to affiliate marketing. It is always easier to build a good site if the subject matter is something you’re interested in. Try to immediately branch out too much and you’ll find the subject matter boring, and feeling too much like a “dreaded task”.
